Oregon Cheese Month

We invite you to celebrate Oregon Cheese Month in the best way possible: with local cheese!

September is Oregon Cheese Month. And it's the perfect time to celebrate the incredible cheeses crafted right here in the Pacific Northwest.

From artisan cheesemakers preserving family traditions to those inspired by global styles, cheesemaking in Oregon is a true labor of love, evident in the quality and complexity of our local cheeses.

This month offers a fantastic chance to explore new cheeses, dive into the art of cheesemaking, and support local businesses while honoring Oregon's rich cheesemaking heritage and dedication to regional products.

What sets Oregon cheese apart? The artisans, of course, but also Oregon's Terroir, or the environmental characteristics that impart distinct characteristics and flavors unique to our region.

New Seasons Cheese Program Manager Hilary Renshaw likes to say, "what grows together goes together," referring to the rich and varied bounty of the Pacific Northwest—including all the deliciousness that pairs seamlessly with your cheese, like local wine, hazelnuts, berries, and pears.

Speaking of pairings, we've got a couple of combos for you that take two local cheeses we love to the next level.

Rivers Edge Chèvre

Rivers Edge Chèvre

Pat Morford and her daughter Astraea craft this blue-ribbon-winning cheese using goat milk from their own farm. They wrap it in handpicked maple leaves, gently smoked to add a unique hint of flavor with true Pacific Northwest flair. For a sweet, smoky, creamy-dreamy treat, spread a little chèvre on a stroopwafel and drizzle it with Sugarpine Miso Caramel.

Face Rock Creamery

What's better than cheddar? New Seasons Oregon Coast Cheddar—handcrafted by our friends at Face Rock Creamery in Bandon, OR, using milk sourced from small family dairies just 15 miles down the road. If cheddar cheese on warm apple pie is your thing, this is your cheese. If you've never tried it, now is a good time.
